  13. My lad and his friends love skylanders. At least there's lots of colourful characters to model, but I fell foul of not doing them ALL!

    It'll be better next time....

The cakes are quite simple, covered in lots of hard meringue to look like rocks or raised on meringue to look like they're floating. I made two of the cakes and simply bought jamaica ginger cakes for the rest, given I needed so many, and they're just the right size. Matchmakers stuck to cola laces by chocolate formed the bridge - the secret here is to balance the number of ropes vs the weight of the matchmakers as the cola laces streeetch and snap.

In terms of characters, there's the villains...

    Kaos
    Chompies
    Fire Chompies
    Jaw Breaker
    Drow

    and the skylanders...

    Eruptor
    Eye-Brawl
    Hex
    Tree Rex
    Prism Break

Hex holds a crystal ball which I fashioned out of a glacier mint, and Prism Break has large crystals, this time carved from glacier mints. The crystals attached to Prism Break are single sugar crystals which I grew over the previous month.
