Tea plantations in the hill country
On the afternoon of day two we drove to Nuwara Eliya where we had tea and cakes at Ella, tasting the silver tip and gold tip tea. I can still remember that they expected us to use lots of sugar and made the tea with carnation milk.
We stayed at St Andrews hotel and then the next day we visited the tea plantations and La Bookelie tea factory in the hill country. We met the Tamil workers, who at that time were paid 1 USD for a 2 hour shift.
