Steve's website

This is our simple website - running on a beaglebone black, it hosts our favourite recipes and cakes, and things that interest us. There's an area for the kids for when they start to learn computing at school, and a personal blog for us all

    Simple vanilla sponge

OK probably don't need to add this bog standard recipe, but it's here for convenience. It's a simple tray bake, but fits our trays....

    275g self raising flour
    225g soft butter
    4 tbsp milk
    1 tsp baking powder
    225g caster sugar
    1 tsp vanilla bean paste
    4 eggs

Sift the flour into a bowl, add everything else and beat the whole lot together well. Pour into a well buttered tray, even out the mixture and cook in a pre-heated 180 deg fan oven for 40-45 mins. Can be done in two sponge tins too - glue together with soft vanilla buttercream icing and sliced strawberries.
