Freezer Favourites

    Spag bol

    Spagetti bolognese, or spag bol

    We cook this in vast quantities....

    3Kg minced lamb
    1Kg carrots, cut into little cubes
    12 large onions, chopped
    Couple bulbs garlic, grated
    Several tbsp provence herbs
    1 bottle red wine
    2 pints lamb stock
    4 to 6 400g tins tomatoes
    1 tube tomato puree
    Seasoning
    Ratatouille, enough for 8 people
    

    Cook the lamb, carrots and onions in a large pan. Add the stock, garlic, seasoning, tomatoes and red wine and simmer for a couple hours until it's all soft.

    This is the sneaky kid friendly bit....We blitz some ratatouille until it's a paste and add this at the end. It provides a rich background flavour and the kids can't detect any 'bits' so happily accept it.
