Steve's website

This is our simple website - running on a beaglebone black, it hosts our favourite recipes and cakes, and things that interest us. There's an area for the kids for when they start to learn computing at school, and a personal blog for us all

  6. Tried some new techniques here - blowing sugar or isomalt to be precise and it's hard to get a perfect sphere or even glazed panels. I did find that it's easy to cut with a hot knife thougj. We also used a hard gingerbread recipe and that worked a treat - the gingerbread was crisp nice tasting and it held it's shape, so a lot of the structure is made from this.

    Gingerbread

    375g butter
    300g muscovado sugar
    150g golden syrup
    900g plain flour
    1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
    2 tsp ground ginger
    1 tsp cinnamon

Melt the butter, sugar and syup and mix well, then pour into the sieved flour, spices and bicarb. Stir together then knead into a stiff dough. Roll out to about half a centimeter thickness
