This is our simple website - running on a beaglebone black, it hosts our favourite recipes and cakes, and things that interest us. There's an area for the kids for when they start to learn computing at school, and a personal blog for us all

    Rich chocolate cake

    250g plain chocolate
    175g butter
    125g caster sugar
    200g ground almonds
    4 eggs, separated
    5 tbsp apricot conserve
    
    

    Preheat the oven to 180 deg C and line and butter a 22cm cake tin.

    Melt the chocolate and set aside. Creom 125g of the butter with sugar until light and fluffy, then stir in the almonds, egg yolks and melted chocolate. Beat together. Whisk egg whites until stiff and fold into the chocolate mixture. Pour into tin and bake for 50-55 mins until firm to the touch.

    Leave for a few minutes then turn onto awire rack and leave to cool. Coat top of the cake with apricot conserve.

    Cut the remaining butter into small pieces and put with the remaining chocolate in a bowl over simmering water. When melted, stir and spread over top of the cake, allowing mixture to run down the sides.
